Because of this, some people worry that IQ tests are being overused and relied upon too heavily. ![]() ![]() As a result, questions have been raised concerning the reliability and validity of IQ tests and how they have been exploited to legitimize racial and economic disparities. Based on IQ test results, it is well-documented that persons of colour and those from lower socioeconomic origins have been singled out for discrimination and subjugation. Questions about the validity of intelligence tests can be traced back to scientific and methodological reasons and broader societal and historical trends. Another problem is that intelligence tests are often created with a single culture in mind, so they may not truly reflect how smart people from diverse cultures are.įoundations of Issues Regarding Intelligence Testing Concerns have been raised, however, that these tests may have a racial or socioeconomic bias. Standardized testing of mental faculties and potential is what we call "intelligence testing."
